Webb House Expands Center & Local Economy

Since 1988, Middle Tennessee’s premier retirement home, The Webb House, has provided families with a peace of mind that comes from knowing that a loved one is being treated with the utmost dignity, care and love possible. Thanks to the support and trust of the community, the Webb House has become a second home for many local residents now living in the luxurious modern-day facility that is conveniently located just over a mile away from Smithville’s historic town square. And to celebrate this wonderful time in the Webb House’s history, the owners, staff and residents will soon cut the red ribbon to a new wing that will bring more care to the elderly as well as new jobs to the local economy.

The new wing, currently planned to open in August, will bring an additional nine rooms, a large activity center and a beautifully decorated chapel to the Webb House community. In addition to the traditional rooms that will be offered, the center will offer new companion suites that are especially designed for two non-related residents. The Webb House provides residents with all the amenities and choices that all Americans are accustomed to, including an in-house beauty salon, movie theater, recreation room, garden and a spacious yet elegant dining room that can be used for family gatherings.

While the movie theater’s reclining seats call out to everyone, it is the new chapel that owners Alan and Lora Webb and their four children believe will create one of the best all-around facilities of its kind in the region.

“We have gone the extra miles this time,” Lora said. “This addition has amenities that I think our residents deserve. This will complete our community all under one roof.”

The staff consists of highly trained individuals that make it possible to cater to the needs of a diverse range of needs. For example, the Phoenix Wing is a specially designed area for residents living with the hardships of memory loss and dementia. Employees with specific training in memory care are assigned to this wing, providing around the clock care for residents.

Dignity is an invaluable concept that the Webb House strives to provide at all times. And the staff realizes that it is often the little things that can instill an individual’s sense of independence. While laundry service is offered free of charge, the Webb House provides machines for residents to use on their own.

The last couple years have been rough on the economy, but thanks to a strong community bond and great reputation, the Webbs feel blessed to be able to provide new jobs to the region. Currently, the Webb House holds 35 positions that are just not available in many regions around the state and country. An additional 10 positions will be created upon completion of the new wing, brining hope to area.

As the celebration of the opening of a new wing soon begins, the Webb House community looks forward to several more decades of providing a loving home and family to those we love most.
